Benefits of Facebook Marketing

Well I thought I would post something having to do with my job today. I feel like it’s important information that you need to know if you are a business owner.

I am a virtual assistant as well as a social media marketing specialist. I mainly work with small local businesses . I don’t like to work for chain companies or corporate entities. The limitations for large companies are pretty strict as far as social media marketing goes. I also feel like supporting local businesses is the best way to support your local economy!

Facebook Marketing can seem somewhat daunting for business owners. What should you post? Will you have time? Who should you hire to manage Facebook? Do you need a Facebook page for my business?

Yes, a million times yes, you absolutely need a Facebook page for your business.

Here are only a few of the benefits of having a Facebook page for your business-

1. Fans turn into customers
About 80% of businesses on Facebook acquire customers through social media marketing. Why only 80%? Many companies are not keeping up with their Facebook business pages. If you don’t have a page which has at least one post each week, none of your fans are seeing your business on Facebook.

2. Your customers want you to be on Facebook
80% of social media users want to connect with brands on Facebook. If 80% doesn’t mean anything to you, think about this: in the US and Canada alone, there are over one billion Facebook users who log in every single day.

3. Promotions
If you need a very low cost way to promote a sale or giveaway, Facebook is the way to go. The chances of someone knowing about your current specials and sales without being told by an advertisement are slim to none. Email marketing and Facebook are the best, cheapest ways to let your customers and fans know that you have a promotion!

4. Loyalty
You may gain a customer by means other than Facebook. Someone may walk into your store, call you, or hear about you from a friend. Don’t you want repeat customers? Repeat customers make you 10 to 1,000 times more money than one time customers. If a one time customer likes your Facebook page, they will remember you. Why will they remember you and come back? Because they see you on Facebook! If you are posting to your business page, your customers will be reminded of your company. Remind your Facebook fans simply that you exist, and that’s a great start to gaining repeat customers.

When all is said and done….

5. Your competitors are on Facebook!
Perhaps the most important consideration is this: your competitors are on Facebook. If your competitors are constantly updating social media and reminding customers and fans that they exist, and you don’t have a business Facebook page, they are much more likely to go to your competitor instead of to you.

6. A new way to gain exposure
Facebook allows companies to “boost” their posts. So if you have a sale and want people to know about it, you can target people in your area, and allow Facebook users who don’t like your Facebook business page yet to also see your advertisements. Depending in your budget, between about 500-20,000 people will be able to see your advertisement. That is some excellent exposure!

For these reasons and more, Facebook should be considered an essential part of your business plan. By hiring someone who manages social media accounts, you are investing in growing your business. That being said, make sure you hire someone who is qualified and has managed social media accounts in the past. Ask for a few examples of past social media work. Ask how long they have been doing their job. Ask how many accounts they currently handle. If someone is managing more than 15 social media accounts, they may not have enough time to dedicate to your company’s Facebook page.

So what should you pay your social media specialist? Well, that all depends. The cost of living in your area will affect the price. It’s always smart to use someone local, however, to cut costs it may be necessary to hire someone who doesn’t live in your immediate area. On that note, please do not hire someone who works from a different country! Not only will you be not supporting your country’s economy, but there are numerous complications that come with paying someone in a foreign country. The laws and limitations for protecting your monthly investment are different.  Personally, I charge anywhere from $200 per month to $1,000 per month depending on the services needed. Find someone like me who offers different marketing packages. Ask your potential marketing specialist what options they feel are right for your company. Typically, you get what you pay for, and that saying works for just about everything in life worth investing in!

I hope you found this post helpful. Facebook can and will grow your business when utilized properly.

Focus Movie Review

Focus movie review – no true spoilers ahead.

When I watched this film, I had very high expectations. Will Smith movies, while not always a mega hit, have always entertained me. It could be that he’s just such a darn likeable guy, but I do think it’s also due to his acting abilities and the character roles he chooses. He’s one smart cookie!

My expectations were met and beyond with Focus. It’s about a character who is a con man. He’s extremely good at what he does, which is consistent throughout the movie. There are several intense moments in which there isn’t legitimate action–however–there is a lingering sense of doom or excitement and anticipation. The makers of this film succeed very well at keeping you engaged during this non action movie. That can be a very difficult thing to do!

Normally, I like suspense, action, thriller, and horror movies. However, I did not find myself bored at any point throughout the film. The plot and characters are well though out and exciting in their own ways. There are some twists that I definitely didn’t expect, and I don’t find myself surprised by a movie too often.

I highly recommend this movie to just about any genre lover. Even if a drama isn’t your cup of tea, I think you’ll be able to appreciate this particular movie. Your mouth will drop at times, and you may even gasp. A thrill without a thriller. It’s a nice movie to watch amongst so many other movies relying purely on sound effects and over dramatics. This one did not need any of that flash.

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars. Watch this one!

Perfect Body Butter

Have you made body butter using Shea Butter as an ingredient before? I was having a conversation with Isabella, the owner of Better Shea Butter about it. It turns out, many people end up with a body butter that hardens after the first day.

So, how then can a perfectly whipped body butter be made? I will try to explain what I learned from Isabella.

Unredined Shea Butter is wonderful for your skin in so many ways. It moisturizes, protects, and revitalizes. However, it has natural hardening properties when it is in room temperature. When you measure out your ingredients for whatever recipe you are using, make sure shea butter makes up no more than 60% of your recipe. Some good oils to mix with shea butter for body butter are avacado oil, olive oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil.

After your ingredients are all melted together, let it sit in room temperature for approximately two or three hours. Although it will still be very liquidy, whip it for a few minutes. After this, you can place your mixture in the fridge overnight.

The next day, take out your mixture and once again, let it sit out for two or three hours. Whip it again for a few minutes, and then you’re done!

I’m still not certain why this magical process works so well every time. I’m sure it has to do with some sciency stuff and other chemistry related facts. I’m just glad that it works so well! Enjoy your body butters, and don’t let a hard one ruin your day.

Movie reviews October 2015

I literally watch so many movies that I’ve decided to shorten my reviews. Instead of each getting their own post, I will post several movie reviews in a single post. Cheers lovelies!

This week I’ve watched…

The Gallows 2015 –
Okay, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for found footage movies. However, this movie was a dissapointment. There was so much hype that my expectations were too high. Don’t expect a terrifyingly wonderful film, and it will be worth a watch!
My rating: 2.5/5 stars

My Bloody Valentine (2D) –
I don’t normally like Halloween or horror movies that seem like they are huge productions with little actual plot, and gratuitous gore. However… JENSEN ACKLES! Am I right? Ha! Well actually, I quite enjoyed this movie. The plot was solid, and although there was more nudity and gore than necessary, it was a great movie.
My rating: 4/5 stars

The Martian 2015 –
I was expecting this movie to be amazing, and I was not dissapointed. While it is a drama, it is also one part thriller and one part comedy. The jokes in this movie really made me laugh, along with just about everyone else in the theater. Matt Damon did an excellent job!
My rating: 5/5 stars

DIY moisturizing face & body cream

Hello lovelies!

I have been experimenting with DIY all natural body products for about a year now, and I thought I should start sharing my creations. Today I made an all natural, 100% organic face and body cream.

Let’s start with the ingredients:

1/2 cup organic Ivory Shea Butter

4 tablespoons organic Cocoa Butter

4 tablespoons organic mango butter

2 tablespoons organic rosehip seed oil

1 tablespoon organic lavender essential oil

6 tablespoons organic aloe Vera gel

To begin, you will need a double boiler, or you can create your own like I did. I took a pan and filled it with about an inch of water, and then placed a glass Pyrex measuring cup in it like this:

Put the heat on low/medium, and then put the shea butter, cocoa butter, and mango butter in the Pyrex. It will take about 10 minutes to fully melt.

Remove from heat and stir well.

Mix in the remaining ingredients into the pyrex, and stir for at least 3 minutes to ensure everything is mixed in evenly.

Pour into a container of your choice like this one. Just make sure it is sealable!

Place your container with the mixture inside of it in the fridge. Let sit for about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.

Stir well again.

Let sit on the counter for about 15 more minutes, and stir one last time. Voila! Now you have your very own all natural moisturizing face and body cream. It should look similar to this:

It will harden a little bit over the next couple of hours, but this is normal. It will still have a very creamy texture. A very small amount goes a very long way. The rosehip seed oil will fade dark spots over time, and also has anti aging properties!

Because of the aloe Vera gel in this recipe, the shelf life will be shortened to about 2 months. You may use coconut oil as a replacement, and this will increase the shelf life to about 6 months!

Enjoy!! 🙂

Halloween time!

Halloween is my all time favorite holiday. Everyone who knows me is aware, because I let them know. Vegans may be able to relate to this. You know how when someone invites you over for dinner, you have to let them know you’re Vegan? Well beginning around August, if someone wants to go shopping with me, I have to let them know I’m obsessed with Halloween. I will not be in any other section of the store, just the Halloween aisles. I thought I would let all other Halloween addicts know which stores have the best Halloween items out right now!

So far, I’ve purchased halloween items at the following stores:

Hobby Lobby – with at least one week a month with holiday items 50% off, Hobby Lobby is one of the best places to shop for Halloween decor. Even when there isn’t a special, there is always the famous 40% off of one single item coupon! My favorite item from Hobby Lobby so far is this tray, which I display proudly:

Ross – You know those pins on pinterest that show you how to make your own potion and poison bottles for Halloween? Well, it’s so much cheaper just to go to Ross! The stores don’t all carry the same items, but there are always gems like this one:

Joann’s fabrics – I absolutely love this store! It’s pricier than Ross and Hobby Lobby, but they do have some very unique items. They had a 40% off sale recently, when I bought a small halloween house decoration which changes colors when you turn the light on.

The last store I will share is…

Marshall’s Home Goods –

I splurged at this store and spent…well more than I should have. However, I purchased a dozen or so items for a very good deal. My most prized Halloween decoration at the moment is my Edgar Allen Poe snow globe!!

Home Goods also has many other Halloween snow globes available with different themes, and even several that wind up and play music, much like a music box. This store is probably the one with the most Halloween items, in the most aisles. They have coffee mugs, dishware, kitchen towels, dog costumes, decor, props, and more. You will definitely get the most bang for your buck here!

For all of you other Halloween obsessed weirdos like myself, I hope you have a happy holiday season. Happy shopping!

Movie Review: Time Lapse 2014

Movies about time travel can be pretty…typical. It takes a pretty creative writer and director to pull off a thrilling movie with elements of time travel. Even more talent is needed to make some unpredictable twists.

The plot of the movie involves a camera which develops images from the future. Three roommates which consist of a couple and a bad boy loser type find out about this machine when their scientist neighbor goes missing, and they go to try and check on him.

At first, as you would expect, things go very well. The roommates use this power to their advantage, using the camera to send messages to themselves on bets they should make. Soon though, everything would go awry.

I honestly can not believe this movie never made it to theaters. It does seem like it had a low budget, but every penny was clearly well spent. The acting is fantastic, and the writers were on point with this one.

I can’t go into any further detail, as it would give away much too much information! I highly recommend you check out this movie. If you’re into Sci-fi thrillers with big twists, you’re going to enjoy watching this one.

Movie review- Snowpiercer

I can not say enough about this movie. The best way to describe it would be Hunger Games… on a train.

I’m a junkie for post apocalyptic thrillers, and Snowpiercer certainly fits the bill. There are characters you’ll love, characters you’ll love to hate, and characters you will be mad at yourself for rooting for.

After the world basically froze over, the only remaining survivors were those who were on a train that is on a continuous track. The train has a section for making food, a section for producing power, water…you get the idea. Of course, there is a class system involved where the lessers are expendable, and there is an upper class group of people who get to party and do drugs constantly.

As all good post apocalyptic movies should, Snowpiercer has a hero, a dictator type antagonist, and brilliant characters in between. There is a lot of heroism, but not without cost. Survivors have to decide whether or not freedom is more important than dying, or if having to live up to the status quo is a worse fate than death.

This movie made me really think, in a good way. Who doesn’t like to watch a movie about an oppressive “government” who needs to be thrown over by an action hero-type??

I could probably watch this movie a dozen times, and still be willing to watch it again. That is saying A LOT.

My rating for Snowpiercer is 4.5/5 stars.

Swordfish 2001 movie review

I’ve been watching a lot of 90’s and early 2000’s movies lately, and I have to say I was skeptical of Swordfish being a decent movie. The star rating was 3/5, which in my mind means it could go either way.

The plot was similar to a lot of action movie plots, with an international terrorist and a confused protagonist (Hugh Jackman) who teeters on the edge of morality.

Hugh’s character is a hacker, already disallowed from seeing his daughter or ever using the Internet.

This movie had a ton of action, and just the right amount of plot twists. Some you may already expect, and it isn’t the most unpredictable movie ever made. Still, I really enjoyed watching this movie, and I do love me some John Travolta!

The acting was on point, and the level of thrill was just right. I was not jumping out of my seat, but I found myself rooting for some characters, which I think is a sign of the quality of actors.

If you like explosions, terrorist plots, and a satisfying ending, check out Swordfish.

My rating: 3.8/5 stars

Movie Review – Pathology (2008)

Pathology was a bit of an intense thriller, and definitely strayed away from the typical cheesy horror plot.

I actually enjoyed this movie, which is rare for me. I would describe myself as having an addiction to horror, but I find it difficult to get my fix. There are so many awful, mundane, and predictable horror movies.

Moving on…

This movie is about several doctors in residency at a hospital who perform autopsies. A new doctor joins the residency, and discovers several other doctors are involved in a little game. Their game consists of taking turns murdering individuals in a sly manner, and then the others guessing how they did it.

The acting is actually quite on point, contrary to what I had assumed at first. If you enjoy allowing Dexter Morgan to seduce you into rooting for a killer, this movie causes a similar reaction.

The ending isn’t completely unpredictable, but for me it was undeniably satisfying.

If you’re looking for an intense thriller with just the right amount of psycopaths, sociopaths, and violence, this one will be sure to itch that scratch.

4/5 stars
